An authentic Thonet Bentwood no. 14 chair – the first Bentwood design by Thonet and made by Mundus & J.J Kohn in the late twenties.  This chair is a deep walnut colour as was used in Viennese cafes. Original label is clearly visible. Lovely smooth finish and nice soft sheen to the wood. Embossed patterned seat in nice condition.

This is a lovely chair, in good condition for its vintage. It has a few scuffs, slight shrinkage to the seat and small splits at the rear. We have used Danish oil and bees wax to clean the chair in the workshop and bring the patina out. It is a very nice, sturdy and useable chair.
 
This chair matches chair II. and could easily be a pair.
